The New Prius - 50 MPG!

Published by under Uncategorized

The 2010 Toyota Prius raises the stakes in the hybrid world. Great gas mileage is what has sold over 1 million Prius Hybrids.  The 2010 Toyota Prius comes equipped with a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine, which is up from the past 1.5L.The new Prius has a larger engine, increased torque, and lower gearing that improve fuel economy.Past models had 110 horspower, the new model has 160-hp.

The new Prius will get better fuel economy.Frugal driving can net over 75 MPG!Fuel Economy is improved by a redesigned powerplant and the lighter body weight. Nosie and vibration are lessened due to a stiffer body.

In redesigning the Prius, engineers have successfully improved the steering by angling the wheels slightly and creating brake discs at all four corners. Features that were optional on previous models such as: air, CD, and power winds, doors, and locks; now come standard for 2010. A remote air conditioner, LED headlights, rearview camera system, and XM radio are all new accessories available on the new Prius.

Heat is taken from the brakes and transformed into energy to recharge the batteries. Safety Standards are excellent on the new Prius. Many options avaialble are the air bag for the driver knee, a safety connect system similar to on-star, and traction control.

See the new Prius and a nice inventory of other hybrids at the Riverside County Toyota Dealer.  Or view an article at at Best New Autos on the Prius winning some awards.  The Prius has been named top green car for the past few years.  And why shouldn’t it.  The Prius gets great gas mileage which saves gas, in turn putting less strain on the environment.  Not to mention is is a low emissions vehicle.  The PRius is an honored car that does a great job of keeping its resale value.  So if you cannot afford to buy a brand new 2010 Prius, go ahead and look for a nice used model.  You will pay less, get a capable car, and even get a used car warranty if you buy a certified Toyota hybrid.

Choosing The Right Used Car To Buy In A Recession

Published by under Uncategorized

For first time buyers, buying a car is hard enough because they can be very expensive, and insurance can be very expensive for new drivers. Most first-time buyers opt for buying a ‘used car’ because they think it will work out cheaper for them. This is not necessarily the case because if a used car is purchased from an auction then you may end up paying more than you could have paid if it was brought from a garage and vice versa. So where can we find the best deal for our cars?

This article looks at some of the reasons why people should invest in used cars during a recession as opposed to new cars. Used cars can sometimes prove to be better investments provided that adequate vehicle research is carried out and a good deal can be negotiated. However, even after researching the market, it can still be hard to know which model of used car is going to be the best buy. The next few paragraphs look at the best car models to consider if purchasing a used car. Surprisingly enough, the top choice is a Japanese model.

According to the car warranty experts, Warranty Direct, the vehicles highlighted below are in Britain’s top 3 most reliable cars that consumers can purchase, especially if they are considering buying a used car.

The Ford Mondeo (00-07) was voted the best reliable car at number 3 in the top-10 reliable cars list. Warranty Direct claimed that their data revealed that this car traveled the furthest compared to any other car, averaging at 16,600 miles per year. The car is built well proving an easy drive. The interior is spacious and comfortable for the motorist.

Coming in at number two is the Honda Civic.  This car is very long lasting; the VTEC petrol engine used in the car has never broken down and caused problems for the motorists. The Civic has always been a reliable car ever since its original design in the 1990s. The Honda Civic has undergone several redesigns in 2001, 2003 and 2006, each re-design of the car made it more efficient and better to drive as well as a good long-term investment. The current design of the car is a lot sharper then the original, making it look slicker. The handling has improved dramatically since the original model.

It is not a huge surprise another Honda is rated as the most reliable vehicle when looking at the used car market. The Honda Jazz (02-08) could be just the car you are looking for to help fight off the credit crunch. Versatile, practical and very cheap to run, it has been rated the UK’s most reliable car with good reason.

Why Selling a Faulty Car Should Mean Jail

Published by under Uncategorized

More and more these days there are huge amounts of garages that are benefiting from tricking the public. The way they do this is by sweet talking them into purchasing a vehicle, but what happens when the person does decide to buy a car from the garage? It happens to break down all the time and then when you go to ring the salesman in question they just seem to ignore your calls and queries, something that they never did when they were actually trying to sell you the car.

People especially working class families then get stuck with these cars and cannot afford to get them repaired or to buy a new one. Although there is a six month open time where you can go and hand the vehicle back for not being satisfied, most garages know that the fault will come after the grace period itself has come to an end.

Then there is not much that you can really do except complain a little which really wont get you anywhere. This is why I personally feel that if you are going to sell a car then you have to be committed to the mechanical problems that are going to arise for at least a year or a certain mileage amount.

Garages have been getting away with selling faulty vehicles for a long time, and now that is one of the reasons they are probably suffering, because people no longer trust them.

Searching For The Correct Auto Performance Part?

Published by under Uncategorized

Since I was a teenager, I’ve always enjoyed working on my own cars and trucks.  Years ago it could be a challenge making repairs to your own car or truck.  Although in most cases older cars were easier to work on, it was always a problem obtaining technical information.  It seemed no matter how many versions of Chilton’s guides I had, they never had the information I needed.  Not being formally trained in auto mechanics, it was sometimes a challenge buying the right auto replacement part, auto performance part or car or truck accessory.

As time went by, I fell into the trap that many back yard mechanics do.  Many people told me newer cars were so technically advanced it was impractical to do any of your own work anymore.  As a result, regular maintenance began to be a hit and miss thing at best.  Talking to many of my neighbors in recent years has shown that many of us fell into this trap.

The growth of the internet has changed all this.  Now you only have to fire up your PC and search the web and you’ll find all the technical information you need right at your fingertips.  The biggest benefit I’ve found for home mechanics is the availability of auto performance parts.  No more going to a local auto parts store, waiting in long lines to purchase a car or truck part that isn’t available.  Today, you can easily find OEM replacement parts at discount prices right on the internet.  The biggest benefit is that you’ll find in most cases you can have your auto parts or performance parts delivered to your door and still save money over traveling to your local store.  Depending upon the size town you live in, you might have a couple auto parts stores available and the larger chain stores do offer competitive pricing.  But have you ever found yourself waiting in a long line waiting for counter service only to learn the specific part you need isn’t in stock?

All of that is a thing of the past.  Today the web makes home auto repairs easier then ever before.  You can find technical information and practical answers to your questions in forums written by guys with hands-on experience.  So comparison shopping for a specific part or auto performance part is a breeze.  Plus you’ll find most of the web stores show you how long you will have to wait for shipping.  Recently I wanted to change brake pads in a Nissan.  So I visited my favorite online auto parts store and found Nissan auto parts with no problem.  In two days time I had Hawk brake pads delivered to my door and actually saved over $50 compared to my local shops.  But the additional benefit is I didn’t have to waste any time shopping locally.

So I suggest the next time you consider doing some work on your own car or truck, start your project off by searching the web for answers to any questions and great discount auto parts.

Are New Cars As Strong as Old?

Published by under Uncategorized

the reason I ask this question was simply because of the fact that a recent declaration by the government shows that they may be giving up to £2000 to owners of cars more than nine years old. The reason they are doing this is to avoid pollution caused by older engines. Old vehicles cause a lot more pollution simply because of the fact that did not have the technology in the past, so that really leads me to the question of whether or not new cars are going to be made to last anymore?

The reason behind this is because most people know that old cars are much better than new. So now that the government have made it clear on what they want to do, will this stop manufacturers building cars to last? For numerous reasons that are indicated below.

First off they now only really need to make cars to go at least ten years as the government have made their intentions to scrap any vehicle that is older then nine years old so make sure they create vehicles that will go for a decade without breaking down.

The second reason is really for the environment, is it really safe to drive a vehicle that is ten years old, we have all seen how fast technology is developing and in around ten years time from now we will probably have near enough to 0% of emitting pollution from cars. So staying upto date with the innovations in technology is essential.

The only downside that I can see from this all is that mechanics may be losing out, because most of their work comes from fixing old cars that need to be repaired on a monthly basis. With cars having a shorter lifespan so will a mechanics job.

United States Gas Cards For Friends And Family

Published by under Uncategorized

There are so many gas rebate cards available that it can be hard to determine which offers the best savings. As with any contract you should shop around to make sure you are getting the best deal. Try to compare a few different gas rebate cards to determine the best deal and what other offers may be included with the gas rebate card.

One of the best US gas rebate cards is the Open Road Card by Discover. This card offers a 5% cashback rebate on any auto maintenance purchases and has 0% APR. You will also get 1% cash back on all other auto purchases. Another excellent gas rebate card is the Blue Cash from American Express. You will receive 5% rebate from any gas station.

The Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards Card will award you 5 reward points for every 1$ spent on gas station purchases. You can save 3 cents per gallon when using the Wal-mart credit card at any Wal-mart or Sam’s clubs. The Shell MasterCard from Citibank has a great introductory rate of 5% rebate of shell gas purchases and 1% rebate on any general purchases but the rebates to have a time limit.

How you receive the rebate will differ depending on the gas rebate card terms. Some rebates must be requested and then you will receive a check. The Cash Plus Visa card works in this manner as every time you have saved $50 you put in a request and will receive a check. Other cards will automatically deduct the savings from your card statement, like the Citgo Preferred Platinum Visa.

There are many other gas rebate cards available and you will need to determine which suits your needs the best. All major gas chains will offer gas rebate cards and you can also get gas rebate cards form the major banks and financial institutions.

Ipods Controlling Cars

Published by under Uncategorized

Controlling a car with an ipod seems like something take out of a fairytale or of a science fiction movie. But a man who is bound to set new standards, Jonathan Over, has just proven that it is possible and it can be done with the help of his newly invented program. He showed the world how he can not only write about stuff in technical publications, but also create strange yet futuristic devices.

The application he invented can be used to close and open a car’s doors, the trunk, the windows and to start the engine. The car owner can also see the fuel level, the speed and engine temperature on the display of the ipod. The program offer all around the world coverage, as it allows the presence of a GPS system to allow people track their car with Google Maps’ help.

Your car has to be computerized. This means you will connect an in-car laptop to the car’s computer and connect a 3G modem to the laptop. This procedure allows the ipod to stay always connected to the car, Even if you are located in a different part of the world, you will still be able to view and control your car via ipod means. It sounds a bit strange and also unsafe, since any new software programs that’s using GPS seems so easily available to hackers, and since the program basically controls your car, you have to wonder what would happen if someone does manages to break into it.

You have to consider safety and accuracy before getting something like this for your car. But if by any chance it becomes something huge you will also need a mini car charger so that the functionality of the device is truly around the clock. It would be too funny to use such a sophisticated program and run off battery on the ipod.

It’s surprising to realize just how far things have gone during the past few years, both with technology and invention. Who would of thought of such inventions when the iPods first appeared? No one. They were simply plain music players, and few people tried to attribute them more tasks back then.

Benefits of New Hybrid Cars

Published by under Uncategorized

While shopping for new hybrid cars, you will likely soon learn there are numerous advantages to these vehicles.Although just a few years ago, it was mainly those who were environmentally aware who considered purchasing new hybrid cars, there are now more and more people realizing the advantages with these vehicles. We have compiled a list of some of the good reasons to purchase new hybrid cars.

Save at the Pump with New Hybrid Cars

Most people are already aware that they can save money on gas with new hybrid cars like a Honda hybrid.Although, we have experienced a slight decline in gas prices recently, we have not fully recovered from the all time highs reached less than a year ago.As a result, drivers have been spurred to seek out vehicles which will cost less to drive.Obviously drivers can replace their current vehicle with a smaller model but turning to a hybrid vehicle is another viable option.Hybrid vehicles have an advantage over smaller vehicles because they are not relying solely on size to be more economical. In particular, hybrid cars make use of the battery to be more fuel efficient. The battery in a hybrid car is able to reacquire energy used during braking and this energy is then kept in the battery for when it is needed.Another way a hybrid car conserves fuel is by including alternate power sources. While standard cars rely solely on the engine for power, a hybrid vehicle can actually shut off the engine for periods of time and rely on the battery and the electric motor as power sources.Lastly the design of a hybrid car is another component contributing to the fuel efficiency.Across the board, these vehicles are much more aerodynamic than most standard vehicles.

Life in the Fast Lane with a Hybrid Vehicle

Of all the advantages of hybrid vehicles, speed is not known to be a great advantage. However, there are ways in which purchasing a new hybrid car can actually help to speed up your commute. They are able to do this because the Energy Policy Act includes the Federal Hybrid HOV Waiver allowing states to waive restrictions on hybrid vehicles using HOV lanes.Several states are already jumping onboard to allow this practice and it is likely that many other states will soon adopt this waiver as well.

Cutting Costs with a Hybrid Vehicle

In addition to the obvious fuel economy involved in purchasing a hybrid car, there are other money saving incentives available. There is a federal tax credit available for some owners of new hybrid cars. You may also live in a state where lawmakers are offering incentives for drivers of hybrid cars.Rebates and lower tolls are just a few of the incentives drivers may find available to them.

If you want to learn all about the different manufacturers and models of hybrid cars and and how they stack up against each other, why not visit Green-Hybrid-Cars.com, where there are many well-researched articles on Toyota hybrid, Saturn Vue hybrid and many other related topics. Be a responsible citizen of the Earth and be kind to your wallet as well by getting informed about this important topic.
